Eddystone Lighthouse
The Eddystone Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located off the coast of Cornwall, England. It was first built in 1698 to mark the dangerous Eddystone Rocks, which pose a significant hazard to ships navigating the English Channel. The current structure, completed in 1882, is made of granite and stands 49 meters tall, making it one of the tallest lighthouses in the UK.
Designed by the engineer John Smeaton, the Eddystone Lighthouse has become an iconic symbol of maritime safety. It is powered by a modern light system and remains operational today, guiding vessels safely past the treacherous rocks and into the harbor.
