Bell Rock Lighthouse
The Bell Rock Lighthouse is located off the coast of Scotland, near the town of Arbroath. Built between 1807 and 1810, it is one of the oldest surviving sea lighthouses in the world. Designed by engineer Robert Stevenson, the lighthouse stands on a reef that is submerged at high tide, making its construction particularly challenging.
Standing at 35 meters tall, the lighthouse features a distinctive red and white striped design. It was automated in 1988 and continues to serve as a vital navigational aid for ships navigating the treacherous waters of the North Sea. The lighthouse is a testament to early engineering and maritime safety.
