Seed Oils
Seed oils are vegetable oils extracted from the seeds of various plants. Common examples include canola oil, sunflower oil, and soybean oil. These oils are often used in cooking, baking, and food processing due to their high smoke points and neutral flavors. They are also found in many processed foods and salad dressings.
The extraction process typically involves pressing or using solvents to separate the oil from the seeds. Seed oils are rich in polyunsaturated fats, particularly omega-6 fatty acids, which can contribute to heart health when consumed in moderation. However, excessive intake may lead to an imbalance in fatty acid ratios.
