Second Anglo-Sikh War
The Second Anglo-Sikh War (1848-1849) was a conflict between the British East India Company and the Sikh Empire in India. It followed the first war and was triggered by political instability in the Sikh state after the death of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The British aimed to expand their control over the region, leading to military confrontations.
The war consisted of several battles, including the significant battles of Gujrat and Chillianwala. Ultimately, the British emerged victorious, resulting in the annexation of the Sikh Empire into British India. This marked a crucial step in the expansion of British colonial rule in the Indian subcontinent.
