Scottish Lighthouses
Scottish lighthouses are essential navigational aids located along the rugged coastline of Scotland. They guide ships safely through treacherous waters and rocky shores. Many of these lighthouses are iconic structures, often built from local stone and designed to withstand harsh weather conditions.
The first lighthouse in Scotland was established in 1786 on Bell Rock, and since then, over 200 lighthouses have been constructed. Notable examples include the Skerryvore Lighthouse, designed by the famous engineer Robert Stevenson, and the Eilean Mor Lighthouse on Eilean Mor island. These lighthouses are not only functional but also represent Scotland's maritime heritage.
