The cake was created by Franz Sacher, a 16-year-old apprentice chef, for Prince Wenzel von Metternich. Over the years, Sacher torte has become a symbol of Austrian culinary heritage and is enjoyed by many around the world, often found in cafes and bakeries in Vienna.
