Royal Fern
The Royal Fern (Osmunda regalis) is a large, perennial fern native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It typically grows in moist, shaded areas such as wetlands, riverbanks, and forests. The plant features feathery, bright green fronds that can reach up to 5 feet in length, making it one of the tallest ferns.
This fern is known for its distinctive appearance, with fertile fronds that produce spores in clusters called sori. The Royal Fern is often used in landscaping for its ornamental value and ability to thrive in damp conditions, contributing to biodiversity in its habitat.
