Osmundaceae
Osmundaceae, commonly known as the royal fern family, is a group of ferns that includes about 15 species. These ferns are primarily found in moist, temperate regions around the world. They are characterized by their large, feathery fronds and distinctive reproductive structures called sporangia, which produce spores for reproduction.
Members of the Osmundaceae family, such as Osmunda regalis (the royal fern), thrive in wetlands and shaded areas. They play an important role in their ecosystems by providing habitat and contributing to soil stability. This family of ferns is also notable for its ancient lineage, dating back to the time of the dinosaurs.
