Romanian royal family
The Romanian royal family is a historical institution that played a significant role in Romania's development. The family traces its roots back to the 14th century and has seen various dynasties, including the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and the Bran line. The last reigning monarch was King Michael I, who ruled twice, first from 1927 to 1930 and then from 1940 to 1947.
After the abolition of the monarchy in 1947, the royal family went into exile. In recent years, members of the family, including King Michael's daughters, have returned to Romania, engaging in charitable activities and promoting cultural heritage. The royal family remains a symbol of national identity for many Romanians.
