Hyperventilation
Hyperventilation is a condition where a person breathes very quickly and deeply, often leading to an imbalance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body. This rapid breathing can occur during times of stress, anxiety, or panic, and may result in symptoms such as lightheadedness, tingling in the fingers, or shortness of breath.
When someone hyperventilates, they may expel too much carbon dioxide, causing a decrease in its levels in the blood. This can lead to a condition called respiratory alkalosis, which can cause muscle cramps and other physical symptoms. Managing hyperventilation often involves techniques to slow down breathing and regain control.
