Redcurrant
Redcurrant is a small, tart berry that grows in clusters on shrubs. These berries are typically bright red, but they can also be found in white and pink varieties. Redcurrants are rich in vitamins C and K, as well as antioxidants, making them a healthy addition to the diet. They are often used in jams, jellies, and desserts, or enjoyed fresh in salads.
The redcurrant plant thrives in temperate climates and prefers well-drained soil with plenty of sunlight. It is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to 1.5 meters tall. Redcurrants are usually harvested in mid-summer when they are fully ripe and have developed their characteristic flavor.
