Rajneeshees
The term "Rajneeshees" refers to followers of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, an Indian spiritual leader who gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s. His teachings combined elements of Eastern spirituality, meditation, and Western philosophy, attracting a diverse group of followers. The movement emphasized personal transformation and the pursuit of enlightenment.
In the early 1980s, the Rajneeshees established a commune in Oregon, known as Rajneeshpuram. This community became controversial due to its unconventional practices and conflicts with local residents. The movement faced legal challenges and scrutiny, particularly after a series of criminal activities, leading to its decline by the late 1980s.
