Rajneesh Movement
The Rajneesh Movement, founded by Indian spiritual leader Osho (formerly known as Rajneesh), emerged in the 1970s and 1980s. It combined elements of Eastern spirituality, Western philosophy, and psychotherapy, promoting a path to self-discovery and personal transformation. Followers engaged in dynamic meditation and other practices aimed at achieving inner peace and enlightenment.
The movement gained international attention, particularly during its establishment of a commune in Oregon, known as the Rajneeshpuram. This commune became controversial due to its unconventional practices and conflicts with local authorities. Despite its challenges, the movement attracted thousands of followers worldwide, influencing various aspects of spirituality and personal development.
