Raags
A Raag is a melodic framework used in Indian classical music that provides a structure for improvisation and composition. Each raag consists of a specific set of notes, known as swaras, and is associated with particular emotions, times of day, or seasons.
Raags are typically performed in two main traditions: Hindustani (North Indian) and Carnatic (South Indian) music. Musicians use raags to evoke feelings and create a mood, often incorporating intricate patterns and ornamentations. The performance of a raag can vary significantly based on the artist's interpretation and style.
