Queen Athaliah
Queen Athaliah was a significant figure in the history of ancient Israel. She was the daughter of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, known for her strong influence and controversial reign. After the death of her son, King Ahaziah, she seized power by eliminating the royal family, becoming the only woman to rule Judah as queen.
Her reign lasted for six years, during which she promoted the worship of Baal, a foreign deity, leading to conflict with the followers of Yahweh. Athaliah's rule ended when Jehoiada, a high priest, orchestrated a coup, resulting in her execution and the restoration of the Davidic line.
