Qalandari
Qalandari refers to a mystical tradition within Sufism, characterized by a focus on spiritual freedom and unconventional behavior. Practitioners, known as Qalandars, often reject societal norms and material possessions, seeking a direct connection with the divine through personal experience and self-expression. This path emphasizes love, devotion, and the pursuit of truth.
The Qalandari movement is often associated with the poet and saint Bulleh Shah, who expressed its principles through his poetry. Qalandars are known for their distinctive attire, often wearing tattered clothes, symbolizing their detachment from worldly concerns. Their practices include music, dance, and poetry, which serve as means to achieve spiritual enlightenment.
