Princess Charlotte of Saxe-Altenburg was born on July 30, 1798, in Saxe-Altenburg, Germany. She was a member of the German nobility and the daughter of Duke Joseph of Saxe-Altenburg and Princess Maria of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Charlotte married Prince Edward of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach in 1820, strengthening ties between their noble families.
