Prince Miguel of Portugal
Prince Miguel of Portugal was born on October 26, 1802, and was a member of the Portuguese royal family. He was the son of King John VI of Portugal and Queen Carlota Joaquina. Miguel became the Duke of Braganza and was known for his claim to the Portuguese throne during a period of political turmoil in the country.
In 1828, Miguel seized power in Portugal, declaring himself king and leading to a civil war known as the Liberal Wars. His reign was marked by conflict with supporters of his brother, King Pedro IV of Portugal, who favored constitutional monarchy. Miguel's rule ended in 1834, and he spent the rest of his life in exile.
