Pontic Greek Language
Pontic Greek is a dialect of the Greek language spoken primarily by the Pontic Greeks, an ethnic group from the region of Pontus on the southern coast of the Black Sea. This dialect has unique phonetic, grammatical, and vocabulary features that distinguish it from standard Modern Greek.
Historically, Pontic Greek developed in isolation due to geographical and political factors, leading to significant influences from Turkish and other local languages. Today, it is primarily spoken by communities in Greece and the diaspora, with efforts underway to preserve and revitalize the language among younger generations.
