Pontic Greeks
The Pontic Greeks are an ethnic group originating from the region of Pontus, located on the southern coast of the Black Sea in modern-day Turkey. They have a rich cultural heritage that includes their own language, Pontic Greek, which is a dialect of Modern Greek. Historically, they have been known for their unique traditions, music, and cuisine.
Throughout history, the Pontic Greeks faced various challenges, including persecution and displacement, particularly during the Greco-Turkish War and the Greek Genocide in the early 20th century. Many Pontic Greeks migrated to other countries, including Greece and the United States, where they continue to preserve their cultural identity and traditions.
