Pistol Squat
The Pistol Squat is a challenging single-leg exercise that targets the muscles of the legs, particularly the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. It requires balance, strength, and flexibility, as the individual lowers their body on one leg while extending the other leg forward. This movement can be performed with or without added weight.
To perform a Pistol Squat, start by standing on one leg with the other leg extended in front of you. Slowly lower your body into a squat position while keeping your extended leg off the ground. Aim to go as low as possible while maintaining balance, then push through your heel to return to the starting position.
