Philae
Philae is an ancient Egyptian temple complex located on an island in the Nile River. It was originally built during the reign of Ptolemy II in the 3rd century BCE and is dedicated to the goddess Isis. The temple features intricate carvings and inscriptions that reflect the religious practices of ancient Egypt.
In the 1960s, the construction of the Aswan High Dam threatened to submerge Philae under water. To preserve the site, an international effort led by UNESCO relocated the temple to higher ground on the nearby island of Agilkia. Today, Philae is a popular tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
