Pedro IV of Portugal
Pedro IV of Portugal, also known as Peter IV, was born on October 12, 1796. He became King of Portugal in 1826 after the death of his brother, King John VI. Pedro IV was also the first Emperor of Brazil, where he played a crucial role in its independence from Portugal in 1822.
His reign in Portugal was marked by political turmoil and the struggle between liberal and conservative factions. In 1828, he abdicated the Portuguese throne in favor of his daughter, Maria II, while continuing to support liberal causes until his death on September 24, 1834.
