Party of Regions
The Party of Regions was a political party in Ukraine that primarily represented the interests of the eastern and southern regions of the country. Founded in 1997, it gained significant influence in the 2000s, particularly under the leadership of Viktor Yanukovych, who served as the President of Ukraine from 2010 until 2014. The party was known for its pro-Russian stance and support for economic ties with Russia.
The party's prominence declined after the Euromaidan protests in 2014, which led to Yanukovych's ousting. Following these events, the Party of Regions faced internal divisions and many of its members formed new political groups. Ultimately, the party was officially dissolved in 2014.
