Euromaidan protests
The Euromaidan protests were a series of demonstrations that took place in Ukraine from November 2013 to February 2014. The protests began in response to the government's decision to suspend an association agreement with the European Union, which many Ukrainians supported. Protesters gathered in Kyiv's Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) to demand closer ties with Europe and government reforms.
As the protests escalated, they turned into a broader movement against corruption and the government of President Viktor Yanukovych. The situation intensified in January and February 2014, leading to violent clashes between protesters and security forces. Ultimately, the protests resulted in Yanukovych fleeing the country and significant political changes in Ukraine.
