Paleo-Siberian Languages
The Paleo-Siberian languages are a small group of languages spoken in northeastern Siberia, Russia. They are not related to the major language families in the region, such as Yukaghir or Chukchi, and are considered distinct. This group includes languages like Nganasan, Enets, and Nganasan, which are primarily spoken by indigenous peoples.
These languages are characterized by their unique phonetic and grammatical features. They are often endangered, with few speakers remaining, as younger generations increasingly adopt dominant languages like Russian. Efforts are being made to document and revitalize these languages to preserve the cultural heritage of the communities that speak them.
