Operation Tigris
Operation Tigris is a military campaign launched by the Iraqi government in October 2016 to retake the city of Mosul from the Islamic State (ISIS). The operation aimed to eliminate ISIS control in the region and restore stability to the area, which had been under militant rule since 2014.
The operation involved a coalition of Iraqi security forces, including the Iraqi Army, Kurdish Peshmerga, and various Shiite militias. Supported by airstrikes from the U.S.-led coalition, the campaign was significant in the fight against terrorism in Iraq and marked a crucial step towards reclaiming territory from extremist groups.
