One Pillar Pagoda
The One Pillar Pagoda is a historic Buddhist temple located in Hanoi, Vietnam. Built in 1049 during the reign of Emperor Ly Thai Tong, it is designed to resemble a lotus flower, symbolizing purity. The pagoda stands on a single stone pillar, rising from a rectangular lake, and is an important cultural and religious site.
This unique structure is part of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long and attracts many visitors each year. The pagoda has undergone several restorations, especially after being damaged during the French colonial period. It remains a significant symbol of Vietnamese architecture and spirituality.
