Numantine War
The Numantine War was a conflict between the Roman Republic and the Celtiberian city of Numantia in present-day Spain, occurring from 143 to 133 BCE. The war was part of Rome's efforts to expand its territory and control over the Iberian Peninsula. The Romans faced fierce resistance from the Celtiberians, who were determined to defend their city.
The war culminated in the siege of Numantia, which lasted several years. In 133 BCE, after a prolonged struggle and dwindling supplies, the city fell to the Romans. The defeat marked a significant moment in Roman expansion, leading to greater control over the region and the eventual Romanization of the Iberian Peninsula.
