Numantia
Numantia was an ancient Celtiberian city located in present-day Spain, near the town of Soria. It was known for its strong resistance against Roman conquest during the Second Punic War and later conflicts. The city was strategically positioned on a hill, making it a formidable stronghold.
The most famous event in Numantia's history was its siege by the Romans in 133 BC, led by Scipio Aemilianus. Despite facing starvation and overwhelming odds, the inhabitants chose to resist rather than surrender. Ultimately, the city fell, symbolizing the struggle of the Celtiberians against Roman expansion.
