Norwegian Counties
Norway is divided into 11 counties, known as fylker. Each county has its own local government and is responsible for various administrative tasks, including education, transportation, and health services. The counties vary in size, population, and geography, ranging from urban areas to vast rural landscapes.
The counties are Akershus, Aust-Agder, Buskerud, Finnmark, Hedmark, Hordaland, Møre og Romsdal, Nordland, Oppland, Sogn og Fjordane, and Telemark. In 2020, a regional reform reduced the number of counties, aiming to improve efficiency and governance.
