Norwegian Municipalities
Norwegian municipalities, known as kommuner, are the basic administrative units in Norway. There are over 350 municipalities, each responsible for local governance, including services like education, healthcare, and infrastructure. They vary in size and population, ranging from large urban areas to small rural communities.
Each municipality is governed by a municipal council, elected by residents every four years. The council makes decisions on local matters and oversees the municipal administration. Municipalities also collaborate with regional authorities and the national government to ensure effective service delivery and development within their areas.
