Niels Högel Case
The Niels Högel case involves a former German nurse who was convicted of murdering patients in his care. Högel was found guilty of killing at least 85 patients between 2000 and 2005 at two hospitals in Lower Saxony. He used lethal doses of medication to induce cardiac arrest, which he would then attempt to resuscitate, seeking attention and praise from colleagues.
In 2019, Högel was sentenced to life in prison for his crimes. The case raised significant concerns about hospital safety and oversight, leading to discussions about the need for better monitoring of healthcare professionals to prevent similar incidents in the future.
