Niels Högel
Niels Högel is a former nurse from Germany who was convicted of multiple counts of murder. He was found guilty of killing patients while working at hospitals in Oldenburg and Delmenhorst between 2000 and 2005. Högel used lethal doses of medication to induce cardiac arrest in his victims, which he would then attempt to resuscitate, seeking recognition for his actions.
In 2019, Högel was sentenced to life in prison for the murders of 85 patients, making him one of Germany's most notorious serial killers. His case raised significant concerns about hospital safety and the oversight of medical professionals in the healthcare system.
