Nefud Desert
The Nefud Desert is a vast sandy desert located in northern Saudi Arabia. It covers an area of approximately 103,600 square kilometers and is characterized by its red dunes, some reaching heights of up to 30 meters. The desert experiences extreme temperatures, with scorching heat during the day and cooler nights.
Despite its harsh conditions, the Nefud Desert is home to various wildlife, including rodents and reptiles. The region also features occasional oases, which provide vital water sources for both animals and nomadic tribes. The desert plays a significant role in the geography and ecology of the Arabian Peninsula.
