National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang)
The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang), often abbreviated as NSCN(K), is a separatist group based in the northeastern region of India. Formed in 1988, it aims to establish a sovereign state for the Naga people, who inhabit parts of India and Myanmar. The group is named after its founder, S.S. Khaplang, and has been involved in various armed conflicts and negotiations with the Indian government.
The NSCN(K) is known for its strong stance against the Indian state and has been involved in peace talks, although these have often been complicated by internal divisions and external influences. The group has also been linked to various regional issues, including the broader Naga nationalist movement and relations with other groups like the NSCN(IM), which has a different leadership and approach to negotiations.
