Mohamed Boudiaf
Mohamed Boudiaf was an Algerian politician and a key figure in the country's struggle for independence from French colonial rule. Born on June 23, 1919, he became a prominent member of the National Liberation Front (FLN) and played a significant role in the Algerian War of Independence, which lasted from 1954 to 1962. After Algeria gained independence, Boudiaf held various political positions but went into exile in 1966 due to political disagreements.
In 1992, Boudiaf returned to Algeria to lead the country during a turbulent period marked by political instability. He was appointed as the president of the High Council of State but was assassinated on June 29, 1992, just a few months into his presidency. His legacy remains significant in Algeria's history, symbolizing the fight for national sovereignty and democratic governance.
