Ahmed Ben Bella
Ahmed Ben Bella was an Algerian politician and revolutionary leader, born on December 25, 1916. He played a significant role in the Algerian War of Independence against French colonial rule. After Algeria gained independence in 1962, he became the country's first President, serving until 1965.
Ben Bella was known for his socialist policies and efforts to modernize Algeria. He focused on education, healthcare, and land reform. However, his presidency faced challenges, including political opposition and economic difficulties, leading to his eventual ousting in a military coup led by Houari Boumédiène. Ben Bella remained an influential figure in Algerian politics until his death on April 11, 2012.
