Mayan peoples
The Mayan peoples are an indigenous group primarily found in Mesoamerica, particularly in regions of present-day Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, including advanced knowledge in mathematics, astronomy, and writing systems, exemplified by their hieroglyphic script.
Historically, the Mayans established powerful city-states, such as Tikal and Palenque, which thrived between 250 and 900 CE during the Classic Period. Today, many Mayan communities continue to preserve their languages, traditions, and customs, contributing to the diverse cultural landscape of Central America.
