Maria Antonia of Portugal
Maria Antonia of Portugal was born on September 21, 1734, in Lisbon, Portugal. She was the daughter of King Joseph I of Portugal and Mariana Victoria of Spain. In 1760, she married Louis XVI of France, becoming the Queen of France. Her marriage was part of a political alliance between Portugal and France.
As queen, Maria Antonia faced significant challenges, including the growing discontent among the French populace. She became a controversial figure, often criticized for her lavish lifestyle during a time of economic hardship. Maria Antonia's life ended tragically when she was executed during the French Revolution on October 16, 1793.
