Margaret of Durazzo
Margaret of Durazzo was a noblewoman born around 1340 in Durazzo, present-day Durrës, Albania. She belonged to the House of Anjou and was the daughter of Charles, Duke of Durazzo. Margaret became Queen of Naples through her marriage to Louis I of Anjou in 1350, strengthening the ties between the two regions.
Margaret played a significant role in the political landscape of Italy during the 14th century. After her husband's death in 1382, she became a key figure in the struggle for power in Naples, navigating complex alliances and conflicts among rival factions, including the Aragonese and Angevin houses.
