Maharaja Hari Singh
Maharaja Hari Singh was the last ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir in India. He ruled from 1925 until 1947, during a time of significant political change in the region. His reign saw various reforms in education and infrastructure, but he faced challenges from both the local population and the Indian independence movement.
In October 1947, as tensions rose with the invasion of tribal forces from Pakistan, Hari Singh faced a critical decision. He ultimately signed the Instrument of Accession to India, which allowed Indian troops to enter the region, leading to the ongoing conflict over Kashmir that continues today.
