Lunate bone
The lunate bone is one of the eight small bones that make up the wrist, known as the carpal bones. It is located in the center of the wrist, between the scaphoid and triquetrum bones. The lunate is shaped like a crescent moon, which is where it gets its name. It plays a crucial role in wrist movement and stability.
In addition to its structural importance, the lunate bone is involved in the articulation of the wrist joint. It connects with several other bones, including the radius and ulna, allowing for a wide range of motion. Injuries to the lunate can lead to pain and limited mobility in the wrist.
