Lord Mahavira
Lord Mahavira, also known as Mahavira, was the 24th and last Tirthankara of Jainism. He was born in 599 BCE in Vaishali, India, and is revered for his teachings on non-violence, truth, and asceticism. Mahavira emphasized the importance of self-discipline and compassion towards all living beings, which are central tenets of Jain philosophy.
He attained enlightenment at the age of 42 and spent the next 30 years traveling and preaching his message. Mahavira's teachings laid the foundation for the Jain religion, promoting the path of liberation through right knowledge, right faith, and right conduct. His followers celebrate his teachings and life through various rituals and festivals.
