Lingayat
Lingayat is a religious community primarily found in the Indian state of Karnataka. They follow the teachings of Basava, a 12th-century philosopher and social reformer, who emphasized devotion to Shiva and rejected caste distinctions. Lingayats worship a personal form of Shiva and practice a unique form of worship that includes wearing a sacred thread called Linga.
The Lingayat faith is characterized by its emphasis on individual devotion and social equality. They have their own distinct rituals, festivals, and practices, which set them apart from other Hindu communities. Lingayats also advocate for social justice and have a rich tradition of literature and philosophy.
