Liliuokalani
Liliuokalani was the last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii. Born on September 2, 1838, she became queen in 1891 after the death of her brother, King Kalākaua. Liliuokalani was known for her efforts to restore the power of the monarchy and protect Hawaiian sovereignty.
Her reign faced significant challenges, including the growing influence of American settlers and business interests in Hawaii. In 1893, a coup led by these interests resulted in her overthrow, and she was placed under house arrest. Liliuokalani later worked to promote Hawaiian culture and rights, becoming a symbol of resistance against colonialism.
