Queen Emma
Queen Emma was a prominent figure in Hawaiian history, born on January 2, 1836. She was the daughter of John Young, a British advisor to King Kamehameha I, and Mary Ann, a Hawaiian noblewoman. Emma became the wife of King Kamehameha IV and served as queen consort from 1856 until his death in 1863.
As queen, Emma was known for her dedication to the welfare of her people and her efforts in promoting education and healthcare in Hawaii. She played a significant role in the establishment of Queen's Medical Center, which continues to serve the community today. Emma's legacy is remembered for her compassion and commitment to the Hawaiian people.
