Lateral Ankle Ligament
The lateral ankle ligament is a group of ligaments located on the outer side of the ankle. These ligaments provide stability to the ankle joint and help prevent excessive movement that could lead to injuries. The main ligaments in this group include the anterior talofibular ligament, calcaneofibular ligament, and posterior talofibular ligament.
Injuries to the lateral ankle ligaments, often referred to as ankle sprains, commonly occur during activities that involve sudden changes in direction or jumping. Symptoms may include pain, swelling, and difficulty walking. Proper treatment and rehabilitation are essential for recovery and to prevent future injuries.
