Kukulcán
Kukulcán is a prominent deity in the mythology of the Maya civilization, often associated with wind, rain, and storms. He is depicted as a feathered serpent and is considered a creator god, symbolizing the connection between the earth and the sky. His worship was central to various Maya city-states, particularly in Chichen Itza.
The most famous structure dedicated to Kukulcán is the El Castillo pyramid at Chichen Itza. This architectural marvel features a unique design that aligns with astronomical events, such as the equinoxes. During these times, shadows create the illusion of a serpent slithering down the pyramid's steps, representing Kukulcán's descent to earth.
