Kristijonas Donelaitis
Kristijonas Donelaitis was an 18th-century Lithuanian poet and pastor, best known for his epic poem, Metai (The Seasons). Born in 1714 in the region of Prussia, he is considered one of the most significant figures in Lithuanian literature, contributing to the development of the Lithuanian language and culture.
Donelaitis's work reflects the rural life and traditions of the Lithuanian people, emphasizing themes of nature, labor, and the passage of time. His poetry is notable for its vivid imagery and deep connection to the landscape, making him a key figure in the Lithuanian National Revival. He passed away in 1780.
